Pip Drysdale website

This is the most visually distinctive site in the set, and Sleeker Media did not design it. Mkoach Design did, with illustration by Louisa Maggio and photography by Katie Kaars. Our job was to build it.

That is a different job from the rest of this portfolio, and a harder one than it sounds. The design arrived ambitious and did not offer to compromise: illustrated desk objects instead of a navigation bar, and hero treatments that are genuinely different on desktop and mobile rather than one layout reflowing.

Building that means every menu object is its own hit area, hover state and mobile decision, and the two hero treatments are two builds rather than a set of breakpoints. On top of it, two pen names, Pip Drysdale and Pip Knight, each needing their own section without fracturing the site or the audience.

We take these on. When a designer has drawn something good, the build should not be the reason it gets simplified.

// WHAT WE BUILT
01

An ambitious design, built as drawn

The brief did not compromise for the browser, so the build had to solve the problems rather than send the layout back to be simplified.

02

Desk-object navigation

The menu is a set of illustrated objects rather than a nav bar, which makes every one its own hit area, hover state and mobile decision.

03

Two layouts, not one responsive one

Desktop and mobile get their own hero treatments rather than a single layout squeezed down until it fits.

04

Two pen names, one site

Pip Drysdale and Pip Knight each get their own section without splitting the audience or the site in two.
