Ratho has been a golf course since 1822 and a farm for longer. Today it is five businesses sharing one address: tee times, accommodation, weddings, corporate events, and a shop, wrapped around a history deep enough to have its own literature and family research pages.
WordPress got it a long way. Then it stopped. Every one of those five streams was running on a plugin someone else designed for a generic version of the problem, and the gap between how the plugin worked and how Ratho works had become the client’s daily friction.
The answer was to keep what was working and replace what was not. WooCommerce stays as the back end, so orders, products and the team’s day-to-day are unchanged. The front end is a static Astro build on Cloudflare, and the gaps the off-the-shelf plugins left are filled by plugins written for this business rather than for the average of every business.

The front end runs on Cloudflare and pulls from WooCommerce, so the shop, products and orders stay in a system the team already knows while the presentation is entirely ours.
Bespoke plugins, not compromises
Several custom plugins were written so tee times, memberships and events work the way the business actually runs, instead of the way a generic plugin assumes.
